AN ATTIC FAN PROVIDES YEAR ROUND BENEFITS

Attic Fan Installer at workBENEFITS OF VENTILATION

– A well-ventilated attic offers protection from premature aging of roofing materials
– Attic ventilation helps dissipate unwanted moisture year round
– Ventilation reduces heating and cooling costs
– Prolongs the life of heating and air conditioning units
– Increases comfort of living spaces

Adequate ventilation creates a positive flow of air that allows the attic to breathe. Cross ventilation is achieved when external air is drawn in to displace stagnant attic air that is forced out through exhaust vents.

In summer ventilation expels hot air from the attic to reduce the strain on air-conditioning systems.  In winter, ventilation helps keep roof and attic temperatures cold to avoid ice dams created by melting snow and to vent any moisture that moves from the conditioned living space to the attic.

An attic fan is a cost effective way to dramatically improve attic ventilation by displacing attic air quicker, on a regular basis regardless of external air flow or wind speeds.

ATTIC FAN HUMIDISTAT

An optional humidistat can be added to any powered attic fan.  This is highly recommended in the Midwest.  During the winter, a humidistat can activate your fan to minimize moisture build up in the attic due to heat generated from living spaces.  When warm air combines with cool outside air, water vapors are generated.  These vapors must be exhausted from the attic space to protect from mold and mildew.

The adjustable DuoStat has dual settings and are preset for both winter and summer conditions.  This means you can set it and forget.  No need to remember to change your attic fan settings manually each season.
