ICICLES CAN BE A SIGN OF TROUBLE IN YOUR ATTIC!
Do you get streaming icicles from your gutters in the winter? Icicles can be dangerous and lead to ice damming of your roof. Are you noticing spots on your roof that melt fast in cold weather? This too can indicate a problem with your attic.
Ice dams occur in winter when living spaces are heated. The warm heated air rises into the attic space. The heated attic melts the snow on the roof above at an accelerated pace. During the day, rising temperature combined with a warm attic below causes snow to melts into water and flow down the roof into cold gutters. It then freezes again as temperatures drop. Eventually, gutters fill with ice forcing the remaining water to travel and freeze underneath and around nearby shingles destroying shingles and surrounding structures.
