Getting your home ready for winter?
Don’t forget your attic!
Homeowners often go to great lengths to prepare their home for cold weather months by sealing windows and doors, cleaning ducts, or testing the heating system. But many overlook their attic space.
Your Attic is Important!
In winter, a properly configured attic can make a big difference. For example, if your attic is properly insulated, your home will heat faster and more evenly, increasing comfort while reducing heating costs.
In winter, warm moist air from living spaces below can pass up into your attic and generate moisture condensation. Proper air circulation will prevent that moisture from building up on surfaces. Moisture build-up can result in damage to wood, insulation, and lead to mold which can result in health issues and hefty mitigation costs.

Regardless of the size of your home
This is true for single family and multi-family dwellings. Many townhouses lack sufficient ventilation and as result have mold and other moisture issues. This is especially true for older complexes.
If you wait, it could be too late!
If moisture problems are left unaddressed, ice dams may begin to form. Ice dams can cause considerable damage to the property and can be difficult to resolve during winter. Click here to learn more about ice dams.
